Nay! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
