So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
