Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And not known my account! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 I am bereft of power." 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
