The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
