The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
