The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
