۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
