HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
