Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
