The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
