The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
