۞ And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols), behold! Your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example). 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 (Jesus) was only a creature whom We favoured and made an example for the children of Israel. 59 Had it been Our Will We would have made angels among you as successors in the earth. 60 AND, BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a means to know [that] the Last Hour [is bound to come]; hence, have no doubt whatever about it, but follow Me: this [alone] is a straight way. 61 And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 Verily Allah! He is my lord and your Lord, so worship Him: this is the straight path. 64 But the factions among them differed. Then woe unto those who do wrong from the doom of a painful day. 65 They await but the Hour: that it should come upon them of a sudden, while they perceive not. 66 The friends shall on that day be enemies one to another, except those who guard (against evil). 67
