Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
