The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lut belied the warnings. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 through Our Mercy. So it is that We recompense the thankful. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
