The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 Created man, 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
