The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 For a mighty day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
