And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
