Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
