Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty." 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 "But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right). 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
