۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
