The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
