Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
