We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without purpose, even though this is the belief of the disbelievers. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of fire 27 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? 28 (It is) a Book We have revealed to you abounding in good that they may ponder over its verses, and that those endowed with understanding may be mindful. 29 We gave Solomon to David; and he was an excellent worshiper, he was penitent. 30 When the noble galloping horses were displayed to him one evening, 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 Return them to me!' And he began to stroke their shanks and necks. 33 We tried Solomon by placing upon his throne a [lifeless] body; and thereupon he turned towards Us]. 34 He said: My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me sovereignty such as shall not belong to any after me. Lo! Thou art the Bestower. 35 So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed, 36 As also the evil ones, (including) every kind of builder and diver,- 37 And others linked together in chains, 38 We said: "This is Our gift, so give or withhold as you wish without reckoning." 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
