The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
