The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
