He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
