The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and brightening morning, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
