The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
