The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
