Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
