The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
