He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to him thou attendest 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
