The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the close of night, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
