The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
