By no means! By the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
