It is He who sends down rain from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture [animals]. 10 And with it He grows for you corn, and the olive and the date-palm and the grape, and all kinds of fruits. Surely, in that is a sign for a people who reflect. 11 He has subjected to you the night, the day, the sun and the moon. The stars are subjected by His Command. Surely, in that there is a sign for a nation who understands. 12 And the things on this earth which He has multiplied in varying colours (and qualities): verily in this is a sign for men who celebrate the praises of Allah (in gratitude). 13 And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful. 14 And he has placed firm mountains on earth, lest it sway with you, and rivers and paths, so that you might find your way, 15 And landmarks (too), and by the star they find a way. 16 Is He, then, who creates like him who does not create? Will you not, then, take heed? 17 And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 18 and God knows all that you keep secret as well as all that you bring into the open. 19 And those they call upon, apart from God, created nothing, and themselves are created, 20 Dead (are they), not living, and they know not when they shall be raised. 21
