We gave Moses the Book, and appointed his brother Aaron as his supporter. 35 (Then) We said: 'Go to the nation who have belied Our signs' And We utterly destroyed them. 36 And Nuh's (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers We drowned them, and We made them as a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc). 37 And (the tribes of) A'ad and Thamud, and the dwellers in Ar-Rass, and many generations in between. 38 Each (of them) We warned by examples, and each (of them) We brought to utter ruin. 39 And indeed they have visited the township upon which had rained a harmful rain; so were they not seeing it? In fact, they never expected to be raised again. 40 When they see you they take you only in jest: "Is this the one whom God has sent as messenger? 41 He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way. 42 Have you seen him who takes his low desires for his god? Will you then be a protector over him? 43 Do you think that most of them listen and understand? They are like cattle or even more, straying and confused. 44
