The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
