The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
