Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
