The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
