The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall call for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
