And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 and the curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement!" 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 until the day of a known time." 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
