Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And of His Signs are the ships that sail in the sea like mountains. 32 If He willeth He causeth the wind to cease so that they keep still on the back thereof; verily therein are signs for every patient, grateful person. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 And (that) those who dispute about Our communications may know; there is no place of refuge for them. 35 Whatever you have been given is only a temporary provision of this life, but that which is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 And those who avoid the heinous sins and indecencies and when they are angry forgive, 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 The meed of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereunto; but whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his hire is on Allah; verily He approveth not the wrong-doers. 40 And indeed whosoever takes revenge after he has suffered wrong, for such there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 But he who patiently endures and forgives, that is a conduct of great resolve. 43
