Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
