Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
