The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
