The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
