Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A. L. M. 1 These are the verses of the sagacious Book, 2 A guidance and mercy for the righteous 3 Those who keep the prayer established and pay the charity and accept faith in the Hereafter. 4 They are on guidance from their Lord, and will prosper. 5 And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). 6 And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment. 7 [As against this,] verily, those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds shall have gardens of bliss, 8 To abide therein. It is a Promise of Allah in truth. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 9 He created the heavens without pillars that you see and cast on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. Upon it He dispersed all manner of crawling thing, and He sent down water from the sky with which He caused to grow in it every generous kind. 10 This is the creation of God. Show me what those whom you consider equal to God have created. In fact, the unjust ones are in plain error. 11
