Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 Then by oath of those which move with ease. 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
